Do not begin with a universal checklist
Every boat combines different engines, drives, batteries, pumps and safety equipment. Start with a component inventory and the applicable manufacturer documents. Generic lists are reminders, not substitutes for model-specific instructions.
Sort intervals into three groups
Separate calendar work, operating-hour work and condition-based inspections. A service can have both time and hour limits; follow the first one reached.
- Calendar: monthly, annually or before the season
- Counters: engine, generator or pump hours
- Condition: inspection, measurement or detected deviation
Make every completion provable
Record date, counter, work, parts, cost and responsible person. Invoices, photos and measurements belong with the maintenance event.
Refine the plan regularly
Review it after each season, after modifications and when guidance changes. Safety-critical or unclear work belongs with qualified professionals.
