Store relationships, not only folders
A filename rarely explains the affected component or event. Associate files with the boat, component, maintenance, cost or claim.
Separate originals from metadata
Preserve the original unchanged. Add a clear title, document type, issuer, date and validity where relevant.
Build a dependable baseline
Include ownership and registration, insurance, technical manuals, service evidence, invoices, surveys and useful condition photos.
Test portability
Confirm that originals and structured data export completely. A backup matters only when separate and recoverable.
